On Campaign Media Coverage

Tomorrow, it will all be over. Worst case scenario: talk of legal action and recounts becomes the lead story until about mid-January. But that will still mean that we will no longer be subjected to the brainless, worthless, pointless excuse for political coverage that is being presented on your TV.

All CNN has to say about Bush-Kerry is how big their "war chests" are and what state they are campaigning in today. This is followed by a 10 second blurb from one of their recent speeches in which Bush uses the word "resolve" and says "freedom is on the march" a few times. Kerry's sound bite is usually a cheap knock-off using slightly different phrases while also questioning Bush's sanity.

Instead of the serious debates and discussions that should mark a democratic election, we are presented with a horse race between two competing "messages". The media actually compares spin now instead of talking about facts (that perve O'Reilly included). For my last political statment of the year, I say "Good luck, and may the best-marketed talking head win."

If you're tired of the media now, you better get down on your knees and pray that "somebody" wins a decisive victory tomorrow. Otherwise we'll be hearing it for another 6 months....personally, I am praying for Gerogre W. Bush. He's not the lesser of two evils, he's simply the best candidate. Taking on evil and promoting freedom and democracy in the heart of the middle east is a noble endeavor. Even more importantly George W. Bush is going to steer this country from running head on into it's own "sinful" nature. With God's grace and mercy, we'll be holding these "horse races" for another 200 years.

But K, that is the problem with Bush. Promoting peace and democracy in the Middle East may be a noble goal, but it is definitely not a conservative goal. Drastic social change like that is unheard of and impossible to do in a year or two. It will take generations. I don't like W because of the giant mounds of bullcrap he builds around things I would like to see happen. You can't balance a budget cutting taxes, and you cannot spread peace and democracy with your army.

It might take 2 years, and it might take 20...fact is Bush started it. Diplomacy doesn't seem to get far with bomb strapped terrorists. That's pretty much something only our military is equipped to handle. I'm not afraid of war, and neither is Bush...this doesn't make him a warmonger though...it makes him a brave world leader. If you think Bush walks kind of funny it's not because he likes to ride horses at his ranch in Texas...it's because of that huge, super-sized nut sack he drags around.
